2 Corinthians 2:15-16 Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?
My mom came in this past weekend to help me take care of some things. She brought us some beautiful Zinnias from her garden. She didn’t just bring them to display. She told me how she sowed the seeds and cared for the garden daily that they came from. I take a lot of enjoyment in growing flowers and I’ve never been one to just buy flowers from a store. When my wife and I were dating I never bought her roses for Valentine’s Day. I always bought a rose bush that looked like a bundle of sticks at the time, but with loving care they would always produce beautiful blooms most of the year.
How do you see flowers? Do you see them as something to just buy and put in a vase for a few days only to watch them wither quickly?
I see our faith as these flowers. It’s not something we can just obtain one Sunday to display for a short period of time after. Our Faith has to be planted deep, it has to fed and cared for daily to be lasting. If we get in the habit of nurturing our faith everyday we will bloom and will spread that seed on to others. Not everyone will appreciate the time it takes to do this and can only grasp the sweet smell from the blooms they see. What we have to show as Christians is how to live daily and work daily to grow these blooms. When someone stops to smell the roses, show them how they can grow them too. #divinecrosses #flowers #faith
