Psalm 51:10 Create a clean heart for me, God; put a new, faithful spirit deep inside me!
There’s a reason I first made this cross last Valentine’s Day for my oldest son. He was born with reversal of the great vessels. On his third day in this world he had to have open heart surgery to switch them back. I can’t go into every emotion I went through as a new young father those days. There were too many. I prayed a lot. The most I’ve ever prayed… I watched those lines go up and down and with every heart beat he was allowed, I gave thanks. I don’t remember a lot else honestly. Nothing else mattered to me in those days. But, I’ll never forget his eyes as he glared at me before he went into surgery that morning. They were the deepest color of blue I had ever seen. I saw something in them I can’t describe to this day. Not even going to try to. I felt a peace I can’t describe either as I looked into them. It’s as if I was looking into the eyes of God. Well, I’ve seen God work in my son and through Him for going on 16 years! He has the kindest most beautiful heart. A heart of God.
I shared this story with a customer and good friend last year. (Here’s where the one in a million odds of having this heart defect meets another one in a million.) Her daughter had this also! After I made the cross for Daniel last year I shared it with only her. Just a couple of weeks ago she asked me to make 3! It’s enough to add them to the website for the other one in a million out there and for everyone :) #divinecrosses #heartofgod
